How we recently helped

Real situations. Clearer insurance decisions.

Insurance advice becomes more meaningful when you can see the problem, what we found and how we helped the client move forward.

Home insurance

Client story 01

Stronger coverage. Lower deductibles. A slightly lower premium.

  • The situation

A homeowner with a $550,000 dwelling limit had a 2% wind and hail deductible—$11,000 out of pocket—and an earthquake deductible of 10%—$110,000.

  • What we found

The roof was covered on a depreciated basis rather than replacement cost. A covered roof loss could leave the homeowner responsible for both the deductible and the roof’s depreciation.

  • What we changed

We paired Foremost Signature homeowners coverage with Palomar earthquake coverage. Wind and hail dropped from 2% to 1%—$11,000 to $5,500. We added replacement cost loss settlement for the roof and guaranteed rebuild coverage to the homeowners policy. The earthquake deductible dropped from $110,000 to $22,000—an $88,000 reduction. The total premium was slightly lower, too.

  • The takeaway

Carrier pricing, coverage and eligibility regularly change. Having access to multiple insurance companies lets us revisit those options and recommend what best fits the client—not simply renew what they already have.

Auto insurance

Client story 02

Their assets had grown. Their liability protection hadn’t.

  • The situation

The household’s highest earner made $125,000 annually, and the household had built $500,000 in assets. Their auto policy carried liability limits of $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident and $100,000 for property damage.

  • What we found

Their protection against injuries caused by other drivers was considerably lower: $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident in uninsured motorist coverage, with no underinsured motorist coverage. We identified gaps in both their liability protection and their protection if another driver caused a serious accident—leaving their assets and future earnings exposed to significant financial risk.

  • What we changed

We increased the underlying auto liability limits and added a $1 million umbrella with additional uninsured and underinsured motorist protection. The premium was slightly higher, but the household gained substantially stronger protection.

  • The takeaway

We review basic income and asset levels to help you understand your options. We explain our recommendation without pressure—you decide what level of protection feels right for you.

Landlord insurance

Client story 03

Coverage that fits the property—and the investment.

  • The situation

A rental property owner wanted the right balance of insurance protection and cost while keeping the property’s cash flow in mind.

  • How we helped

We compared multiple carriers, policy forms and loss settlement options. We explained how those choices affected both the premium and what the owner could receive after a covered loss.

  • The solution

Our range of carrier options gave the owner flexibility to balance coverage, cost and the amount of risk they were comfortable retaining.

  • Why it mattered

Insurance is part of the property’s operating costs, but an uncovered loss can affect cash flow far more than the premium. Having options and understanding the tradeoffs helps property owners make informed decisions about coverage and cost.

Workers’ compensation

Client story 04

Lower costs. Fewer gaps. More predictable cash flow.

  • The situation

A contractor hadn’t reviewed their workers’ compensation coverage in several years.

  • What we found

We quickly identified carriers offering significant premium savings. We also found that payroll wasn’t being tracked separately to take advantage of lower-cost job classifications, and the contractor was working in states their current policy didn’t cover.

  • What we changed

We corrected the coverage gaps, aligned payroll tracking with the appropriate classifications and reduced their overall costs. We also established payroll reporting to help reduce audit surprises and make cash flow more predictable.

  • Why it mattered

The review delivered more than a lower premium. The contractor gained coverage that better reflected where and how they worked, along with a clearer process for keeping payroll and insurance costs aligned as the business moved forward.

Commercial claim support

Client story 05

The carrier initially declined. We helped change the outcome.

  • What happened

A commercial client reported a claim, and the insurance carrier initially declined coverage.

  • How we helped

We reviewed the policy and its additional coverage endorsements, then challenged the denial. We explained why those provisions supported coverage and why the carrier had a duty to defend our client.

  • The outcome

The carrier reconsidered, provided a defense and ultimately paid on the client’s behalf.

  • Why it mattered

Having the right coverage matters. Without a careful review and informed recommendations, you may not have the protection you need. Having an agency willing to advocate for you when a claim happens matters, too.
